Walking Challenge

I’ve been in a funk lately.

We’ve all been there, dealing with stress and getting into our heads about it. As I was thinking about a constructive way to deal with my stress, I came up with an interesting idea: get myself out for a walk every day.

To make this achievable I set myself a set of rules:

  1. No distance limit. No matter how long or short I just need to get outside and move.
  2. Get out as early in the day as possible, but don’t beat myself up if I go later in the day (work, kids, life happens)
  3. Take the time to “unplug”. No checking emails, no phone calls, no social media.

I am currently a week in and feeling good. In addition to feeling refreshed both physically and mentally, I’ve also gotten to take in all the fall colors and Halloween decorations around the neighborhood.

As fall continues to progress, I’m sure that keeping up with this will get more challenging. The weather this week is trending cold, rainy, and the shorter days are making it harder to get up and out of bed. I’ll keep you posted how this goes for me and will share some tips and tricks along the way!

I hope that this inspires others to join me and do the same. Sometimes life can get stressful, but getting fresh air and movement is an easy way to “walk” it off.
