What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?
Last weekend I decided to go out for a long run. Everything felt great, but when I got home I realized I was short on time before having some company over, and skipped a cool-down and stretching for more shower time. The result: an hour later I was sore, stiff, and ended up straining a muscle in my back. I was out for the count.
It’s something I’ve heard since I started running way back in the 6th grade. It’s important to warm-up and cool-down before you exercise. It helps you perform better. It helps reduce the chance of injury.
So while it may be tempting to save some time and skip a warm-up or cool-down, factor that time into your overall workout. Trust me, your body will thank you!
